Our wonderful Tarot Bloghop Mabon 2017 wrangler, Kiss Boglarka, has choosen two aspects to write about the cards for this season.  Mabon is about balance, equal time. For my Mabon #tarotbloghop, I’ve choosen The Ten of Pentacles.  The Ten of Pentacles, to me, means home, tradition, celebrations, and family, including the young, the elderly , and those who’ve moved on.  And with these celebrations comes all the good and bad food (don’t ask me about the broccoli casserole I tried to make one year) that is served and all the memories that are made.  The number 10 is suppose to be a card of “completion”.  I resonate with this card because when I was little, the norm was one or both parents getting drunk and fighting during a family event.  I changed that for my children.  No fighting, no police, no neighbors coming out to see what was going on.  The “10 completion” for me is that my children who are young adults “19-22” now and they have never had the “joy” of a 5-0 celebration.  Therapy session is over now:)

The four people and two dogs in this card are the people who migrate to the porch after their repast.  The kid is just there to bother the dog.  The two young adults are gossipping about Aunt Matilda’s cranberry lemon salad and how dry the meat was on the turkey/chicken (whatever it was).  The elderly gentleman is just happy he got to be around his family another year, regardless of how the food tasted.  To him, it was pure love and another memory to cherish.

In keeping with the second request of the #tarotbloghop, I’ve decided to include a receipe my grandmother and aunt have always prepared during family celebrations.  Now to be truly honest, I hate cranberries. Hate ’em, hate ’em, hate ’em.  However, I do like them in this receipe and I’ll eat them.

Cranberry Orange Salad

  • 2 cups ground cranberries
  • one apple and orange without seed (grind in food processor)
  • 1 pkg. orange gelatin (small package)
  • 1 pkg. plain gelatin
  • 1-1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water

  • Pour boiling water over orange gelatin; add sugar and stir until it dissolves.
  • Place plain gelatin in 1/4 cup cold water; let sit until softened.
  • Stir plain gelatin into orange gelatin; add one cup cold water.
  • Stir ground apple, orange & cranberries into gelatin, mixing well.
  • Chill overnight.

I did some research on cranberries. Planetary: Mars and it’s  Element: water.  They are good for: healing, protection, love, lust, positive energy, courage, passion, and action. They are full of vitamin C and they have a lot of antioxidants.

Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed my blog as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it.  Please be sure to click to the next blog.  If you get lost, just click Master List.  Thank you Kiss Boglarka for a wonderful topic. And thank you for taking the time to read it.  It’s been a very long while since I’ve blogged and I’m slowly getting back into it.  I guess it’s like riding a bike……wait, last time I rode a bike I ran into a fence…..bad analogy.  Anyway, you get the picture.
